Gharnata

Gharnata (Granada) was the last Muslim region in Spain, which was fall on January 2, 1492. The last Muslim ruler Emir Muhammad XII surrendered complete control to Fernando V and Isabella I, after the last battle of the Granada War.

Viet Flakes was composed from an obsessive collection of Vietnam atrocity images, compiled over five years, from foreign magazines and newspapers. Schneemann uses the 8mm camera to “travel” within the photographs, producing a volatile animation.

When the Greeks

At the turn of the twentieth century a young merchant is abducted by a group of brigands who are sheltered in a remote mountainous area of Greece aiming to extract ransom from his wealthy family. The young man develops a kind of sympathy to the arch-brigand and realizes that the underground life and moral code of his kidnappers actually represent a more genuine expression of “New Hellenism” than his bourgeois well-being.
