Kinderblock 66: Return to Buchenwald

Kinderblock 66 is the story of four men who, as young boys, were imprisoned by the Nazis in the notorious Buchenwald concentration camp and who, sixty-five years later, return to commemorate the sixty-fifth anniversary of their liberation. The film tells the story of the effort undertaken by the camp's Communist-led underground to protect ad save Jewish children who were arriving in Buchenwald toward the end of the Holocaust. Kinderblock 66 also tells the story of Antonin Kalina, the head of the block who was personally responsible for saving 904 boys in Buchenwald.

Ikarus, the Flying Man

Two French spies, Baron d’Aubigny and Clemence de Montignon, blackmail German engineer Günther Ellinghaus with his gambling debts into handing over his construction plans for the new Ikarus engine. He flees to New York and works as a waiter. When World War I breaks, he signs on as a fireman on a Dutch ship and returns to Europe. He becomes a fighter pilot in Germany and faces the former spies as his enemies. After an emergency landing he is taken into their headquarters. He escapes an attempted murder and fights his enemies in an air battle. Both of them survive and after the war Ellinghaus offers them his hand in reconciliation.

Toha, Pahlawan Bandung Selatan

This is the heroic story of Mochamad Toha, who successfully blew up a Dutch ammunition depot in Bandung and ruined their defences. Set in Bandung at the time of transition, between the departing Japanese and the incoming Dutch (who are supported by the British), Indonesians had to fight for their independence. Toha emerged as a leader of the common people, who saw injustice and oppression, and who sacrificed himself by blowing up the ammunition depot.

During the decisive weeks of the Winter War in February-March 1940, Suomi-Filmi produced four War Jokes, cheesy propaganda entertainment, by "those great grins" Tatu Pekkarinen and Matti Jurva. The first War Jokes is from the beginning of February. At the beginning, Jurva sings about the evil eastern direction. "The Iivanas are digging trenches on the Isthmus... Whoever starts with a shovel, ends with a spoon..." The second part is Jurva's bravura. In front of the trench, he performs a foxtrot with a balalaika in a red star cap: "Njet Molotoff, njet Molotoff, you lied more than Bobrikov himself..."
