Vera is an experimental film that combines drawn-on-film and digital animation. The images unfold to the rhythm of music played by Vera Guilaroff, a pianist from Quebec that has now been forgotten by history. Guilaroff accompanied numerous silent films in Montreal movie theaters during the 1910s and 1920s. To our knowledge, this is the first time in nearly 100 years that her music has been used again in a film.

All in light ebbed aside

Started as a filmdiary, “Ogni cosa nella luce si ritrae” is an attempt at assembling all the footage shot over the course of thirteen months through a logic capable of showing both its intimacy and distance. A hendiadys turned towards its incompleteness, towards the margin itself (here, each time: the film leader, the cut that links and separates the images), always and yet never entirely continuous/discontinuous, at the same time.

Daniel Gad steps for the first time into the role of director and creator, carrying a big question and a song in his heart, as he embarks on a personal journey alongside his father, a former player and club icon. Two adjacent neighborhoods in the city of Rehovot: Sha'arayim, founded in 1911 by immigrants from the Hidan region in Yemen, and Marmorek, established by immigrants from the Sharab region. Each has its own football team, founded in the late 1940s, with rich traditions and a long-standing rivalry so deep that even in the cemetery, a wall separates the communities. Maccabi Sha'arayim and Hapoel Marmorek – the Rehovot derby. Now, a new stadium is being built in the city. Will this dream unite them, or tear them apart forever?
