An argument between a couple escalates
A profile of a modern day monk on the Scottish island of Iona.
Often described as ‘avant-garde punk’, Dublin musician Meryl Streek is dark and dangerous – a cocktail of rage and despair. Onstage he’s a prowler – menacing, apoplectic, and snarling like a young Joe Strummer. Rage Against the Dying of the Light is not only a portrait of an artist, but a snapshot of a challenging time in Irish culture amid a massive housing crisis and a fear of artistic homogenisation – highlighting the importance of dissenting, unique and rousing voices.
Decades after burying a series of recordings he believed lost forever, a respected architect dies. When the tapes are discovered beneath his home, a stranger appears at his daughter's door claiming to know the man better than she ever did. Produced under the creative supervision of Ramon Zürcher and Silvan Zürcher during the Locarno Film Festival 2026 Spring Academy.

The music and sound design by Mikael Umarov helps set the mood.
