Miyakawa Hikage is an elementary school girl, living with her older sister Hinata. Every day they have to struggle with the poverty and financial ruin that go along with an otaku spending lifestyle.

Pushpa and Karishma’s mother-in-law/daughter-in-law banter adds comedy, while ideological clashes between Haseena and Karishma fuel the drama. The show’s blend of eccentric cases and engaging characters makes for an entertaining and heartfelt story.

Prior to TV success, Aherne's Mrs Merton character appeared on Frank Sidebottom's album "5/9/88", then made her TV debut on the 1991 Channel 4 gameshow Remote Control, hosted by Anthony H Wilson.
