A Dirty War

In 1943, four Italian Alpini escape back to Italy after their company was decimated in Croatia by Yugoslav partisans. One of the four, Paolo, is seriously wounded and must undergo a leg amputation. The young man, embittered by his mutilation and the end of his soccer career, enlists in the fascist Brigate Nere. Once a member of the Brigate Nere, Paolo turns to evil and captures his former comrades, who must defeat him.

The Third Woman

In the Autumn of 1991 Croatia is fighting for independence and the capital Zagreb is plagued by air raid alerts and blackouts. Hela Martinic is a reporter, who returns to her home town from Australia, called by her old friend Vera Kralj. Soon after arrival, she is told her friend was killed in a traffic accident. At the funeral she meets some people who Vera was involved in some sinister activities and she begins her own investigation.

A human hand throws a box of cigarettes on the chessboard. It has a picture of a house and the sun on it. The chess king organized a military campaign against a foreign body. Chess rooks shoot. Chess knights are riding. The march of the troops goes to the end of the chessboard. The king decides to take over the surrounding space. Black and white squares cover one picture, a funny prankster, and even a globe. A human hand sweeps away the chess pieces and collects them in a box.

Germany, 1914: The bourgeois austerity of the small, northern German town in which Ulyssa lives conflicts sharply with her desire to flirt with and be ensnared by charming, young men. The news of this disaster leads her to reconsider and eventually give in to the constant urgings of the Viennese merchant Reindl. Ulyssa joins Reindl in Vienna and lives a life of wealth and comfort, until one day, Stefan shows up.

The Price of Life

At the end of 1991, a prisoner Ivan escapes from Serbian camp. He finds a hideout in the property of a wealthy Serbian landowner Stevan, who eventually finds him and offers him two choices - to submit him to the authorities, or to make Ivan work for him. Ivan accepts the latter and while staying on the farm he gradually introduces the landowner's deranged family. He also meets his daughter-in-law Anica, a beautiful Croatian woman married to landowner's bloodthirsty son who fights in Croatia. A secret love affair is being developed between the two Croats.
