How Did Esther Get on the Table?

A little girl fidgets by the desk at which her father is working. Suddenly she appears on top of the table, where she shrinks to only a few centimetres in size. The scene launches into a series of surrealistic objects of her environment. She is comforted with many situations that could conceivably happen to her in the future, and they prove to be more threatening than reassuring. At the end of film we find Esther restored to her normal self again, sitting on the lap of her father.

Lan Hua Hua and Brother Yang are childhood sweethearts and playmates, and the relationship between the two is sincere and passionate. However, Lan Hua Hua was forced to marry a greedy and cunning landlord. Lan Hua Hua, who was unwilling to succumb to fate, decided to elope with Brother Yang on the wedding night.

The film from the project "Living pictures" is based on the canvas of the Estonian artist Raul Rajangu / Raul Rajangu "New Year's Eve" / NÄÄRIÖÖ from the Estonian Art Museum. The authors of the animation project had to come up with what could happen before or after the moment captured by the artist. The characters and backgrounds are created and animated by children 7-10 years old.
