Cadernos Negros

In 1978, young Black people gathered at CECAN in São Paulo and created Cadernos Negros. The publication has featured over 300 authors. In 1980, the group formed the Quilombhoje collective. Since then, the series has alternated between poetry and short stories, expanding the visibility of Black Brazilian literature.

Emile Reynaud

The 8th short film as part of the Magica series dealing with pre-cinema. Fictionalised documentary about Emile Reynau who invented the praxinoscope and its system of central mirrors. He then projects his paper strips into the projection praxinoscope before creating the Théâtre Optique, presented at the Musée Grévin. The perforated strips are fragile and often break. The show is cancelled. Reynaud tries to apply photography to his praxinoscope, but without success. Desperate and ruined, he throws his strips into the Seine. Only two survived.

Diamante

Ezequiel lives on the banks of the Paraná River, grew up in a traditional fishing village, lived a lonely and sensitive childhood with his environment, attached to his mother and sisters. He wants to be a fisherman, he learns by watching his father and his grandfather who teach him to fish and hunt.

Filomena

The Filomena snowstorm in central Spain was undoubtedly exceptional. Its return period in many places exceeded half a century, particularly in Madrid. Despite accurate weather forecasts, Filomena brought roads, public transport, health centers, and other basic services in Madrid to a standstill. What went wrong in the management of this weather event?

Peter Nagel

Peter Nagel is Schleswig-Holstein's most famous painter and a founding member of the artist group "Zebra," which launched New Realism in Germany in the 1960s. His "greatest" work is a ceiling painting that has adorned the ceiling of a school in Kiel since the mid-1970s. Director Christian Mertens, himself a former pupil there, returns to his old school 25 years later and immerses himself in the world of Peter Nagel: How do you do something like that? Who does something like that? And what kind of person is he?
